Four Pakistani movies I am waiting for in 2015

Growing up in late 90’s and early 00’s cinema wasn’t an everyday concept for me. So finally when a Pakistani movie ‘Khuda key liye’ released it was a big thing for me to go the cinema and watch it. A slow and steady stream of movies for the mainstream cinema in Pakistan started to release. However no other genre was being explored in the revived new movies coming up while we continued to excel almost every genre in drama industry. Finally sitting in 2015 I can say that Pakistani cinema is ready to move out of it’s comfort zone and has/is going to release movies out of the dark genre. Na Maloom Afrad can be a classic example of it.

Four Pakistani movies that I really am looking forward watch this year are

Karachi sey Lahore

Release Date: 31st July 2015

Lead Cast: Javed Sheikh, Rashid Naaz, Ayesha Omer, Eshita Syed, Shehzad Sheikh and Yasir Hussain.

Why am I looking forward to watch this movie?

I absolutely love road trip movies. Karachi sey Lahore is the first of its kind of movie from Pakistan which will cover a 36 hours journey from Karachi to Lahore as title suggests. The movie also will cover the different ethnicities of Pakistan i.e. Punjabi, Sindhi, Pushtoon and Balochi to give the story a very cultural and local touch.

I really do hope the humor of the movie is not over done via the actors.

Ho Mann Jahan

Release Date: Eid-ul-Adha

Lead Cast: Mahira Khan, Sheheryar Munawar and Adeel Hussain

Why am I looking forward to watch this movie?

The movie is about 3 friends belonging from different social backgrounds but sharing the same passion for music. It is refreshing to see a very upbeat and lively movie coming to theaters to attract younger set of audience as well. Mahira Khan’s hip look in the movie defiantly will be a trend setter when the movie will be released.

3 Bahdur

Release Date: 22nd May 2015

Lead Cast: Amna, Saadi and Kamil (The characters ;))

Why am I looking forward to watch this movie?

First and foremost this is going to be a Pakistani animated movie and second the creative director of the movie is none other than our Oscar winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy. The story revolves around 3 friends set in a fictional town ‘Roshan Basti’ who would save their community from the evils of society.

The soundtrack of the movie in its trailer sounds good.

Let’s see if this movie will be able to pull off in Pakistan or not.

Bin Roye

Release Date: 18th July 2015

Lead Cast: Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed, Armeena Rana Khan, Zeba Bakhtiar, Javed Sheikh and Hamza Ali Abbasi.

Why am I looking forward to watch this movie?

Pakistan has truly excelled in dramas specifically in drama/romance genre and now it is turn of the film industry to take over this genre as well. The trailer of Bin Roye guarantees a story full of emotions and I am sure Farhat Ishtiaq’s story would not disappoint us. I am also looking forward to see the art direction of the movie  as in trailer it looks brilliant.

Saturday night at Vintage

Wanted to go to Vintage from the longest time and finally last night I had a chance to go the place.  The place is artfully decorated and gives a nice airy feeling although it’s in basement. I wish it had a lot of windows though. Anyways coming straight to the point, the place was jammed pack so our order took 20 minutes to serve. The wait was worth it. I ordered Lemon and Herb Grilled Chicken with mashed potatoes.

The chicken was very well cooked with light and creamy sauce. The flavor of lemon or herbs wasn't overpowering. Anyone who enjoys mild flavors would enjoy it very much. Mashed potatoes were ok, could have been creamier. The serving size was more than satisfying. My friends ordered a Club Sandwich and Creamy Tarragon Ala Kev. Though I didn’t taste the sandwich my friend said it tasted good and it was served it a lot (and when I say a lot trust me they were a lot) of French fries. I did eat fries and they were thin and crisp just the way I love them.

The star was no doubt Creamy Tarragon Ala Kev. I really wish I had ordered it as I managed only to steal a bite or two my friend’s place. The sauce was great, full of flavor and chicken had that crispy coating. It was yumm!

Since we were pretty filled up we decided to order just once slice of red velvet cake. All those fans of light and yummy desserts this cake would be perfect for you. The sponge was light and not to sweet while the frosting was slightly sweeter and thick. A spoonful of it with the whipped cream and I was in cake heaven.

The place is extremely easy on the pocket as our total bill was around 2k with drinks.

I really want to try their salad menu as it really looked promising. Going to Vintage again soon hopefully.

The Chosen Bun

I can finally and confidently say that I had the BEST burger of my life today. Hands down The Chosen Bun is the ultimate place in Karachi for burgers. I ordered the original Chosen Burger in chicken. It was perfect thick slab of grilled juicy and well seasoned chicken, oozing with cheese and mayo, topped with caramelized onions and jalapenos in soft bun. The fries were crispy too.

Cherry on top was the customer service Rameez( the owner) and Daniel (Owner’s younger brother) gave. Rameez personally was taking orders and suggesting what to have. Once order taken we went to the dining area which is located in basement. It is decorated cleverly in black and yellow theme with graffiti on walls and completed with a gaming console and a sofa! There is where Daniel asked yes to join him at sofa. Daniel is an amazingly sweet kid!

Our order came within 20 minutes. And the meal was HEAVEN!

It’s a must go place for all the burger lovers. My friend ordered Juicy Lucy (Double beef patty burger with loaadss of cheese) and swore it was the best beef burger ever.
Great value for money, perfect ambiance and too good to be true burgers.

110/10 !
